In the heart of this historic gem lies the Fireside Chophouse, a premier steak restaurant renowned for its aged select steaks and fine dining. Oh and it was a very odd scenery.Welcome to the enchanting world of Historic Williamsburg, Virginia, where history comes alive through cobblestone streets, meticulously restored buildings, and immersive experiences. Not to mention the baked potato only came with a side of butter and sour cream. His exact words were "WE DO NOT SEASON OUR STEAKS" say what? for a $25.00 steak it better have some type of seasoning. When he came to my table i explained that the steak did not taste like it was seasoned. The waiter came to ask me if everything was ok so i mentioned my concern. When i had my first bite it did not taste like anything. I could not believe I was paying that much money for that horrible appetizer. The so called "tomato Marmalade" looked and tasted exactly the same as ketchup and mayo mixed together. We decided to order the fried calamari with tomato "Marmalade sauce". The menus are a piece of laminated paper. We should have known it was going to be an unpleasant experience when we were given the menus. My husband and I visited Fireside Chop House for Valentines Day. I know exactly where to go for a great meal on my next visit to Williamsburg. No loud music! The men in our party also liked the TV in the bar area so they could check scores. One of my favorite points about Fireside is that it is a place where you can enjoy (and hear) a conversation with your dining party. Pleasant atmosphere with adults and families alike in our dining room (one of two). Nice decor and comfortable yet sophisticated dining room. Our server was very helpful with the menu and provided friendly service. (Not sure why one of the previous reviewers knocked the laminated menu offered to patrons - it was tastefully done on one page and very easy to read - no bearing on the classiness of this restaurant.) My husband and I split a very tasty steak salad (we decided to forego the house salad that came with the meal for something more substantial). The menu offers several salad and side options. Our dinner companions each tried a NY strip. My husband ordered the prime rib and thoroughly loved it. I enjoyed the stuffed shrimp (stuffed with crabcake mix). And compared to some of the other places we ate at in Williamsburg (in the historic area and New Town) it is very reasonably priced for the quality of food and service. This place is hands down better than any of the national chains in the area (it is locally owned). Tried the Fireside Chophouse because it was near our hotel.
